(This blog is a response to Gary's Investigative Exercise 3 Photo sharing and Flickr )
The State Library of Queensland holds approximately 1.5 million photographic resources – negatives, slides, original photographs, copy prints and original albums dating back to the birth of the State of Queensland in 1859 to the present day. In 2003, the State Library launched its digital image library, Picture
Queensland, with 6 000 images and now provides online access to more than 45 000 historical and contemporary images.
These images offer an insight into the many aspects of Queensland life: early pioneer and pastoral activity; relationships between Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders and Europeans; the establishment of Queensland cities and regional and rural communities; changes in the built environment, transportation, politics, fashions and recreational activities; the natural environment; and the people who shaped Queensland history.
Now the State Library shares some of the heritage images on flickr. The link of State Library of Queensland, Australia's photostream is http://www.flickr.com/photos/statelibraryqueensland/sets/.

This image is from the photostream's Early 20th Century colour postcards sets. The building is this image was Queensland Government Treasury Buildings in Queen Street of Brisbane. This photo was taken in 1907.
It is very interesting that in google map I found what the Treasury Buildings are looks like today.

This google street view image has nearly the same view with the old photo and you will find that the buildings do not look the same. From another web source I found that the Old Treasury Building was built in three stages from 1886 to 1928. This explains why in the first photo we can see only part of the whole building as today's. By the time of 1907 only the first stage of the build had been finished (the far end part from photos).
It is another photo of this Old Treasury Building from google panoramio.
