A Brief Evaluation and Recommendation of the Application of Web2.0 in Kogarah City Library


Web 2.0 is the web applications that facilitate participatory information sharing, interoperability, user-cantered design, and collaboration on the World Wide Web.  The Web 2.0 has revolutionised the way content is created and the way users access, use and contribute information. 

The following evaluation and recommendation of the Application of Web2.0 in Kogarah City Library are based on the analysis of the library’s website in five main library service areas.

Social Networking in Library

(This post is a response to Gary's Investigative Exercise 5 Social Networking )

This is a changing world.  Internet and the related new technologies have change the way people live.  In the library industry, it is a trend to use these new technologies such as social networking in library's services.  The reasons are as following:

  • Social networking is popular life style for the Y Generation.  In order to provide better services to the Y Generation, library need to participate on social networking sites;
  • Using social networking sites, the library can find another cost-efficient way to market and promote its services;
